Why the Grange?

Historically organized by farmers to provide community support and to share best practices, the Grange has evolved over the years. Granges enjoy considerable leeway in their activities and we are always looking at ways to meet the changing needs of Westport and surrounding towns. We currently host a number of regular classes (Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, exercise, and art), sponsor a monthly lecture series on environmental and ecological topics as well gardening and sustainable farming, and make our building available for community events.

What else could we be doing? Please bring us your ideas.

We are much more than a building at the corner of Main and Adamsville Roads.

The 2021 mission statement of the Westport Grange is, “We are a community asset with a centrally located multi-purpose hall providing programming and activities that promote a sustainable and regenerative environment.”

The Westport Grange has made an effort to modernize the original formalities in order to be more inclusive and diverse in welcoming new members.  As a member of the Westport Grange, you will  have the opportunity to provide leadership in directing the Grange’s future. Contributing your talents and interests will help to direct the work of our Grange as a meeting place and forum for the exchange of ideas with a focus on ecological balance and sustainability.

You are invited to become familiar with the Grange history and record of community service. The Grange is strongest when all members participate.
